Glenn,

There is not much else on that road. You should have no problems finding the main entrance where all of the paved parking is. Yes, the event could use better web page content. You may find information about the park at the park's web page: http://www.georgiahorsepark.com/. Also maps.google.com gives directions right into the main parking lot. This is the first time running this event for the organizers, I am sure they are learning a lot this year.

Did a search on this site for "horse park" and found the Trail address under or 2011 ride schedule. I hope this helps.

Correction: if your cursor gets to the sebikex.com provided rough map, the address is on the enlarged version, but the address is only within a city block or two in MS Streets compared with Google Earth view entrance coordinates.

Southeast Bike Expo
Folks; so SORBA didn’t put the event together, but if IMBA / SORBA and mountain biking might benefit, a small attempt at promoting success might be worth the effort. In short; the event needs an accurate and clear location so people can look up how to get there, not a unidirectional vague route description that helps no one utilize their normal means of trip routing. And; it needs a better presentation of what the event offers.

The Expo’s address would be helpful (I looked the unspecified park up: 1996 Centennial Olympic Parkway). But, the address for the “famous” Georgia International Horse Park might not quite be adequate or accurate (the address doesn’t even show up in the Wikipedia description of the park. And the park doesn’t show up on 2011 issue Microsoft Streets and Trips’ maps.) Investigation via Google Earth indicates four entrances on the main road; Degree, Minutes coordinates provided by Wikipedia 33° 39′ 41″ N, 83° 55′ 57″ W. (Google Earth view probable main park entrance coordinates: if you use GPS like many of us, you likely need decimal coordinates 33.66486° -83.93133°).

Expo information link: why isn’t at least the Expo flyer information copied on their webpage? It looked like there was no information until I enlarged the flyer 150 percent so the small print could be read (accessed via another http://sebikex.com/ webpage or GATR’s). We might let the Expo people know these issues represent poorly presented information; possibly lowering participation.

Good Morning,

If there is still room I would like to sign up for the night ride on Jan 19th.

Although I am new to the GA area and have been riding mountain bikes for about 6 years.I have a light that is good for about 4 hours and way more cold weather gear than I will need since I have been riding at night in New England for the past 3 years where we have to stop around this time of year due to the depth of the snow and the -5 temps doing funny things to your cables and suspension.

Thanks,
William Ivey
